Code of CONDUCT

This code of conduct was drawn up according to the South African Schools Act (Act 84 of 1996), the Constitution of South Africa (no 108 of 1996) and was approved by the School Governing Body and the Executive Council. The code of conduct was drawn up to ensure the attainment of our mission. As a learner of Vaalpark High School I regard the following matters as important:

  1. I respect the fact that the ethos of the school is founded on a value-driven system, determining the aim and character of the school without prejudice of the rights of learners with various religious convictions.  I will also respect the difference in culture.
  2. My word is my honour and I will strive to be honest in my work and conduct and to be of help if any problems should occur.
  3. I accept that sound discipline leads to the development of self-disciplined young people of strong character.  I undertake to respect the disciplinary system of Vaalpark High School.
  4. I acknowledge the right of all learners to be stimulated by the school, on school visits and extra-mural activities and will refrain from acts that will take this right away from them.
  5. I endorse the development and execution of leadership obtained in a democratic way in our school, and I acknowledge the fact that without leaders the school will be an undirected community.
  6. I will show the respect to my superiors and inferiors that they earn, and to my equals so that they will believe in me.  I will show the same respect to visitors.
  7. I undertake to regard my school work, school attendance, school uniform and school involvement as important and will utilize my free time in such a way that will not be to the disadvantage of the school..
  8. My language, behaviour and actions will at all times be to the benefit of the school.
  9. I will refrain from any negative behaviour such as smoking, drinking, use of drugs, theft, damage to school possessions, assault, etc.
  10. My school uniform, hairstyle and general appearance will be in line with the internal school rules.
  11. In my participation in extra mural activities, I will undertake to do my best and to obey the rules or culture of the game as well as good sportsmanship
