Dance Studies is a subject that combines practical dance training with theoretical understanding, fostering an appreciation for diverse dance forms and promoting valuable life skills. It emphasizes the importance of dance in various social, cultural, and personal contexts, aiming to equip learners with the skills to create, perform, and analyze dance. We offer a choice between Spanish Dance Studies and Contemporary Dance Studies.
Drama
Dramatic Arts (or Drama Studies) is a subject that blends practical performance skills with the study of dramatic theory, processes, and products. It aims to develop creativity, communication skills, and an understanding of how drama has been used to reflect human experiences and societal issues. The subject also focuses on developing critical thinking and analytical abilities through the analysis and interpretation of performance texts.
Music
The study of Music encompasses performance techniques, style, listening, form, theory, interpretation and history. Music gives learners access to opportunities of musical expression and communication through the creation and performance of music within a South African and global context.
Visual Art & Design
Visual art and design both involve creating with the visual medium, but they have distinct purposes. Visual art focuses on expressing emotions, ideas, and concepts through a variety of mediums, often with a subjective and interpretive nature. Design, on the other hand, is more about solving problems and achieving functional goals, often with a focus on communication and user experience.
